What is PTFE Coated Bolts, stud bolts, nuts and its advantages?
PTFE is short for Polytetrafluoroethylene, a chemical applied to common bolting materials (such as B7 stud bolts) to provide corrosion and chemical resistance. And providing the world’s most slippery surface. PTFE coating is a fluoropolymer coating. Some other common coatings for PTFE coated fasteners are Teflon and Xylan.
PTFE coated fasteners are bolts, stud bolts, U bolts and nuts coated with PTFE coating. PTFE is extensively used as a coating for Fasteners used in Oil & Gas, Marine & Offshore applications. PTFE coated fasteners stands exceptional to Salt Spray Test. It has outstanding release capabilities and can withstand a maximum use temperature of 600°F, higher than any fluoropolymer coating.

- PTFE Coated Bolts have a Low Coefficient of Friction – The coefficient of friction of PTFE is generally in the range of 0.05 to 0.20, depending on the load, sliding speed, and particular PTFE coating used.
- PTFE Coated Bolts are Nonwetting – Since surfaces coated with PTFE are both oleophobic and hydrophobic, they are not readily wetted. Cleanup is easier and more thorough—in many cases, surfaces are self-cleaning.
- PTFE Coated Bolts are Heat Resistant – PTFE industrial coatings can operate continuously at temperatures up to 260°C/500°F, and can withstand a maximum use temperature of 600°F, higher than any fluoropolymer.
- PTFE Coated Bolts have Cryogenic Stability – Many PTFE industrial coatings withstand severe temperature extremes without loss of physical properties. PTFE industrial coatings may used at temperatures as low as -270°C/-454°F.
- PTFE Coated Bolts are Chemical Resistance – PTFE is normally unaffected by chemical environments. The only chemicals known to affect all PTFE industrial coatings are molten alkali metals and highly reactive fluorinating agents.

What is Xylan Coated Stud Bolts, U bolts, bolts & Nuts?
Xylan is a fluoropolymer topcoat, which in the 1014 and 1070 coatings afford high lubricity (co-efficient of friction as low as .02), and corrosion resistance of approximately 1000 hours(ASTM B117) when applied over phosphate, and up to 2000 hours when applied over electroplating. These are solvent based thin film topcoats.
Xylan Coatings are a family of fluropolymer coatings, designed for use on machined components and fasteners to prevent corrosion and facilitate makeup torque. They are a waterborne/VOC compliant, resin bonded, thermally cured, single dry film lubricant, and known as “extreme performance coatings” for fasteners as bolts, U bolts, stud bolts and nuts. These Xylan coated bolts, stud bolts & nuts have a maximum temperature ranging up to 500 deg. F. Xylan 1052/ Xylan 1070 /Xylan 1014 coated bolts&nuts and Xylan 1424/ Xylan1427 series may also be applied over other basecoats, for added corrosion protection. The 1400 series Xylan coatings (typically Xylan 1424), are low voc coatings. They have a coefficient of friction of .05 to .10, and a maximum constant operating temperature of 400 deg. F. The corrosion resistance of the 1400 series Xylan coated bolts is approximately 1500 hours, when applied over a suitable basecoat such as zinc electroplating.
