Chrome plated tube general introduction

Chrome plated tube, chrome plated steel bar and honed cylinder tube are the main materials for manufacturing hydraulic cylinders. As hydraulic cylinders are widely used in various kinds of machines and equipment, these three products are widely used in modern industries.

Chrome plated tube is known as chrome plated hollow bar or chrome plated hollow steel in some industries. This product usually is made of seamless steel tubes or seamless hollow bar, by precision polishing on outside diameter and with a certain thickness of chrome plated layer on outside diameter, so they are called chrome plated OD tube also.

The chrome plated surface provides excellent wear and corrosion resistant performance of the tube. Chrome plated steel tubing has an excellent durability and helps reducing friction. Chrome plated pipe is mostly used as hydraulic piston rods in order to have a lighter hydraulic cylinder. And chrome plated OD tube also can be utilized for applications where precision outside diameter or high smooth outside surface is  required. Chrome plated OD tubes can be supplied with honed inside surface for telescoping hydraulic cylinder applications too.

Our chrome plated tubes / chrome plated hollow bar is available in size range of O.D: 15 mm to 609 mm, with W.T 1 mm to 40 mm.

The Outside diameter tolerance of our chrome plate tube can be as precise as ISO h7, and we can supply with other tolerance on customers’ request.

Normally the outside diameter surface roughness of our chrome plated tubing is below Ra 0.4 microns. And the thickness of the chrome plated layer can be from 10 microns to 30 microns on customers’ request. The most popular requirement of chrome plate layer thickness is Min. 20 microns.
