Corrosion-free pipe support solution – U-bolt with I-Rod equivalent half round rod
Younglee’s Standard U-Bolt with Half Round Rod is the ultimate solution for preventing Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) and metal-to-metal contact in piping systems. By utilizing a high-strength Acetal (POM) half-round rod, this assembly creates a point contact that eliminates water traps and crevice corrosion at support points.
What Is a U Bolt with Half Round Rod?
A U-bolt with a half-round rod (equivalent to I-Rod) is a specialized pipe support assembly. The half-round rod is placed between the pipe and the support beam, while the U-bolt secures the pipe. This design is widely used in pipe racks, offshore platforms, chemical plants, and power plants to provide a durable, non-corrosive interface.
Why Use I-Rod Equivalent Instead of Rubber or PTFE Pads?
- Anti-Corrosion: Eliminates the water-trapping “crevice” found with flat pads.
- High Strength: Unlike rubber, Acetal does not compress or degrade under heavy loads.
- Low Friction: Allows for thermal expansion movement without damaging the pipe.
- CUI Prevention: Specifically designed for Corrosion Under Insulation environments.
